MOBstack CE-WDM Multiplexer
Passive xWDM Coexistence Element for GPON, XGS-PON and NG-PON2 Networks
The MOBstack CE-WDM series from E.C.I. NETWORKS enables seamless coexistence of multiple Passive Optical Network (PON) technologies on the same fiber infrastructure. Using thin-film filter (TFF) technology, these passive modules allow operators to upgrade GPON networks to XGS-PON or NG-PON2 without replacing the existing Optical Distribution Network (ODN).
Installed near the Optical Line Terminal (OLT), the CE-WDM modules combine and separate wavelengths for GPON, XGS-PON, RF video, and monitoring services, ensuring a smooth network evolution toward 10G and future 25G/50G PON architectures.

Connectivity examples
- Core Layer: Two Optical Line Terminals (OLTs)—one for standard 2.5G GPON and another for higher-speed 10G Symmetric XGS-PON—send signals into a MobStack CEx PON Multiplexer. This device combines both signals onto a single feeder fiber trunk and includes an access point for an OTDR monitoring tool.
- Aggregation Layer: The multiplexed signal is carried to a 1x16 PLC Splitter, which passively divides the optical signal into 16 separate output fibers to distribute service to multiple end-users.
- Access Layer: The splitter outputs connect to distinct groups of Optical Network Units (ONUs) at subscriber locations. This showcases that some customers can receive standard GPON service (left) while others get higher-bandwidth XGS-PON service (right) off the same shared aggregation infrastructure. Both types of ONUs support a wide array of end-user devices, including IP phones, surveillance cameras, access points, and monitors, connected via Gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Q&A
Commonly asked questions
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and similar global consumer protection laws, OEMs cannot void your equipment warranty simply because you use a third-party transceiver. Your equipment warranty remains intact.
A CE-WDM (Coexistence Element WDM) allows different PON technologies such as GPON and XGS-PON to operate simultaneously on the same fiber network.
It separates and combines wavelengths so existing GPON services can continue while new 10G services are introduced.
No. MOBstack CE-WDM modules are fully passive optical devices.
Typically near the OLT in the central office or access node.
