Specifications

MOBstack CE-WDM Multiplexer

Passive xWDM Coexistence Element for GPON, XGS-PON and NG-PON2 Networks

The MOBstack CE-WDM series from E.C.I. NETWORKS enables seamless coexistence of multiple Passive Optical Network (PON) technologies on the same fiber infrastructure. Using thin-film filter (TFF) technology, these passive modules allow operators to upgrade GPON networks to XGS-PON or NG-PON2 without replacing the existing Optical Distribution Network (ODN).

Installed near the Optical Line Terminal (OLT), the CE-WDM modules combine and separate wavelengths for GPON, XGS-PON, RF video, and monitoring services, ensuring a smooth network evolution toward 10G and future 25G/50G PON architectures.

Connectivity examples

This network diagram illustrates a multi-tier Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) deployment that enables the coexistence of two different passive optical network (PON) technologies.
  • Core Layer: Two Optical Line Terminals (OLTs)—one for standard 2.5G GPON and another for higher-speed 10G Symmetric XGS-PON—send signals into a MobStack CEx PON Multiplexer. This device combines both signals onto a single feeder fiber trunk and includes an access point for an OTDR monitoring tool.
  • Aggregation Layer: The multiplexed signal is carried to a 1x16 PLC Splitter, which passively divides the optical signal into 16 separate output fibers to distribute service to multiple end-users.
  • Access Layer: The splitter outputs connect to distinct groups of Optical Network Units (ONUs) at subscriber locations. This showcases that some customers can receive standard GPON service (left) while others get higher-bandwidth XGS-PON service (right) off the same shared aggregation infrastructure. Both types of ONUs support a wide array of end-user devices, including IP phones, surveillance cameras, access points, and monitors, connected via Gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Performance & Reliability

The MOBstack CE-WDM modules are designed for carrier-grade optical access networks where reliability and signal integrity are critical.

Key performance characteristics include:

Power & Wavelength Testing

We verify signal strength and wavelength stability to ensure seamless decoding and consistent transmission across the optical path.

Traffic Testing

All transceivers undergo bit error rate (BER) and packet loss testing to guarantee zero data loss and full compliance with Ethernet and Fibre Channel standards.

Optical Performance Validation

Our modules are evaluated for signal integrity, eye diagram clarity, and BER, ensuring stable, high-quality optical transmission in all operating conditions.

End Face Inspection

Each module's fiber interface is inspected and cleaned to eliminate contamination and physical defects - a critical step for optimal signal performance and long service life.

Warranty & Compatibility

Warranty

Q&A

Commonly asked questions

No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and similar global consumer protection laws, OEMs cannot void your equipment warranty simply because you use a third-party transceiver. Your equipment warranty remains intact.

A CE-WDM (Coexistence Element WDM) allows different PON technologies such as GPON and XGS-PON to operate simultaneously on the same fiber network.

It separates and combines wavelengths so existing GPON services can continue while new 10G services are introduced.

No. MOBstack CE-WDM modules are fully passive optical devices.

Typically near the OLT in the central office or access node.

Yes. Certain models support OTDR monitoring wavelengths for fiber diagnostics.

Yes. We offer full support, RMA service, and warranty coverage on all modules.
